I am nosy by nature. I can’t help it. I eavesdrop. If you’re speaking in my vicinity, be sure I am listening. You can try to be sneaky all you want, but this is a skill I have horned for years. I’ll hold a conversation with my date, but my ears will be somewhere else, soaking up information. Maybe you reading this does that too.
I know a chick who was a star at eavesdropping too. We’d seat in cafes in the early evening, talking about everything, & then we’d pick up on a convo a few tables away. Suddenly, out of the blues, we’d explode in laughter about something that was said on that table.
We were both sneaky bastards, we’d make it seem like we were laughing at our own jokes. We weren’t the type to joke. I am not funny. I lack charisma, & women don’t understand humour anyway. We laughed a lot nonetheless.
For some reason, I’ve locked the world out these days. I’ve developed this rugged individualism that I can’t explain. I rarely pick up on these convos. I mind my business.
Recently though, I floated around my hood in the evening. I was on a mission to buy dinner. Ahead of me, two young girls who couldn’t be a day over 20 conversed in raised voices.
When a woman is comfortable, she is loud. I don’t trust a woman who speaks in a low tone, she’s probably a spy & an assassin. When a woman speaks slowly, & in a low tone, that shit scares the shit out of me. I make a mental note to avoid her, forever.
These green souls blabbered about noticing two boys who held hands as they walked around the neighbourhood. In between high-pitched laughs, they kept saying that it was some weird ass shit. Basically, they were saying that these boys were members of the rainbow alliance or as Ruto says it, “wa ile pande ingine.”
I don’t know, holding hands seems harmless, depending on how you hold hands. But in this age of charged sexuality, anything can be perceived as anything. People see things were there’s nothing to see. I haven’t been keen on how women view gay chaps. Thus, I pose this question to the ladies, what do you think of gay men?
